![]() But as a rule of thumb, until you're sure of the paint's consistency, you still should try to thin it out (lest you want to be too late in discovering the paint's thickness obscured some small details on the miniature, or dries in a lumpy texture). With this particular purple, if it's already quite thin, you may be able to get away with not thinning it any further. Some paints are just very finicky and require a little more patience than others. From what I've done to remedy the situation, you can either.ġ.) Keep adding layers until you get the color desired.Ģ.) Paint a layer of white first, building it up until the black base is covered, and then painting the purple over that.ģ.) Add even less water to the paint (you tried 1-1, maybe try 1-.5).Ĥ.) Use a wet pallet, put a drop of your purple onto the pallet's surface, spread it out a bit (thus allowing the paint to mix with some water), and then applying to miniature. I'm also using Army Painter paints and I've encountered similar effects with some of their paints (yellows, especially). they are pretty good once you learn to defeat the quirks. If your paint is still watery after trying these out, it could just be a defective bottle and you could replace it. Squirt it out until you get what looks like well mixed paint. The first time you use the paint after shaking, squirt the first bit of the bottle on to a paper towel to get rid of the excess medium trapped in the nipple of the bottle. Another good thing to do is lightly squeeze or tap the bottom of the bottle to make sure there is no pigment caked to the bottom of the bottle prior to shaking. Subsequent uses beyond the first won't need as much shaking if you use the paint semi-regularly. ![]() Put one or two in the dropper bottle and shake vigorously. Search for paint agitators or nail polish agitators. Plastic BBs work too but are not as dense as steel. I use them as my primary paint brand and have a few things I do to make them perform well. Army Painter paints are amazing when you learn to work around the slight drawbacks some of their colors tend to have.
